YOUTH: BOOF Presents to NCPP 5-30-2012

Youth from Betting On Our Future (BOOF) presented once again at the NCPP General meeting on 5/30/12.  Alex, who presented at the June 2011 NCPP General Meeting at the Boys & Girls Club of South San Francisco, returned with his peers to present a continuation of their past work with exploring problem gambling among teens in Daly City.  This time around, the BOOF youth screened a video they made in collaboration with Youth Leadership Institute and Baycat on payday lending practices at two local casinos: Lucky Chances (Colma), and Artichoke Joes (San Bruno).  The videos critically examine how payday lending targets and affects lower income communities of color, and yet still remains a legal practice despite astronomical interest rates.  Check out the following links to view both videos.
