Berkeley City College Students Volunteers for RBST
May 11, 2013 (SAT): NCPP was fortunate to have 5 students from the International Student Association at Berkeley City College come to Daly City, CA to do in-person outreach to owners, managers, and employees of alcohol establishments (bars, stores, restaurants). Their main task was to invite these alcohol merchants to attend our upcoming May 21, 2013 Responsible Beverage Server Training (RBST). The purpose of these trainings are to teach alcohol merchants the laws and policies related to selling alcohol to underage drinkers and intoxicated individuals.
One challenge NCPP staff members faced when talking to alcohol merchants in Daly City RBST was getting past the language barriers. Spanish, Chinese, Korean, and Tagalog are very popular languages spoken in the area. With the help of our volunteers, who spoke these languages, they were able to get the alcohol merchants interested in attending the training.
Our partnership would like to say “thank you” to the student volunteers for taking their time out on a Saturday to help us out.
If you’re interested in volunteering for our partnership in the future, please e-mail us at ncppsanmateo@gmail.com. We are more than happy to find ways for you to get involved with this type of work.
