The Affordable Care Act helps LGBT Americans by
- preventing insurers from denying coverage or charging a higher premium because of a pre-existing condition or because someone is LGBT.
- removing lifetime dollar limits as well as annual limits on coverage.
- allowing LGBT adults and teens to get screened for HIV and depression without paying co-pays or deductibles. Other preventive services (i.e. cervical cancer screening, obesity counseling, and well-woman visits) are covered at no extra cost.
- helping more LGBT Americans find affordable health insurance.
