BTC Presents to HealthRIGHT 360 Board of Directors 5-28-14

The HealthRIGHT 360 Board of Directors invited Be The Change youth collaborative to present their Findings & Recommendations from the 2013 Youth Access Survey at a board meeting in San Francisco on 5/28/2014.  Mary and Ingrid provided a brief overview and background of the work of NCPP before the youth presented.  The board members really seemed to enjoy the presentation and asked thoughtful questions about the survey methodology and findings.  Everyone had great time walking together and taking BART to get to the HR360 office at 1735 Mission Street in San Francisco.

CMCA Day 3 & 4 Training Next Fri-Sat 5/30 and 5/31/14

Hi folks!  You are cordially invited to attend our upcoming CMCA Day 3 and Day 4 training at the South San Francisco Municipal Building on Friday May 30th, and Saturday May 31st!  The CMCA training will provide some insight into some of the problems around alcohol that the South San Francisco faces, and will be an opportunity for members of our community to engage with NCPP in helping to reduce the harm and impact from youth access and use of alcohol.

We will also be sharing some preliminary data from concurrent CMCA one-on-one interviews, where we have been in the process of interviewing 100 members of the SSF community to share their thoughts and perspectives on underage drinking.  Learn about current trends in our community, and explore some solutions with NCPP.

The trainings will be from 9am to 4pm at the South San Francisco Municipal Building, at 33 Arroyo Drive, SSF 94080.  We will provide breakfast and lunch for all participants.

Please RSVP with Athila Lambino at: alambino@aars.org  or by phone at 650-243-4864

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who planned, volunteered, attended, enjoyed, or learned something at our Town Hall Meeting for Daly City & Pacifica last night! We couldn’t have asked for a better turnout! The event went really smoothly, and the guest speakers did an excellent job discussing the topic. During our Q&A session, community members and parents were passionate about sharing their voices about the harmful norms around alcohol consumption. Participants then engaged in small group activities to answer particular questions about the consequences of alcohol use, and then shared some of their brainstormed ideas with the larger group. We plan to develop next steps using these ideas, and will be holding another follow-up Town Hall event in Daly City & Pacifica in a few months. We are also in the early planning stages of having a Town Hall event in South San Francisco to engage residents of that community as well.

Extra special thank you to our esteemed panelists, and our local advocate in the Office of National Drug Control Policy, Mr. David Mineta!
