PARTNER EVENTS: Cultural Humility In The Era of Cultural Competence 06-28-2012

If you missed last year’s presentation by Melanie Marie Tervalon, MD, MPH,  on Cultural Humility you can register for a repeat presentation presented by the Office of Diversity and Equity. This is a free training opportunity to improve providers’ cultural competence and understanding of health care disparities. As a bonus, you can receive 3.25 hours of CME/ CEU credit for attending.

On Thursday May, 10th from 6-9PM join the Vietnamese Youth in celebrating 35 years providing a safe place for the undeserved youths in the Tenderloin neighborhood and San Francisco to play and grow. Help support their mission in empowering youths and transforming lives.

The Youth Leadership Institute (YLI) and  San Mateo County Friday Night Live Network (SMC FNL) will be hosting their annual Communities in Action Recognition event. For the past 15 years, youth leaders in San Mateo County have been recognized for their positive impact within their communities; opening the doors of opportunity, providing training, and building relationships. The event starts Friday May 18th from 5PM to 8PM, please RSVP.

COMMUNITY: Behind the Smiles 04-26-2012

Behind the Smiles is a forum by the Filipino Mental Health Initiative, in collaboration with the Autism Hearts Foundation to raise awareness of health issues in the Filipino community. Health issues from mental illness to substance abuse are often hidden and ignored in the Filipino community. The goal of Behind the Smiles will be to educate and provide resources for those within the community, by overcoming the stigma of looking for help.
