On Friday, July 29, 2011, North County Prevention Partnership (NCPP), in collaboration with the South San Francisco Parks and Recreation Department hosted the first annual NCPP Teen Night. The event was held at the Municipal Hall in South San Francisco from 6-8 pm, bringing together the youth and families of North San Mateo County for a night of fun, entertainment, free food and raffles.

The goal of the night was to recruit individuals aged 14-20 for the NCPP youth coalition passionate about raising awareness on issues around alcohol, tobacco and other drugs (ATOD) affecting youth within San Mateo County. Teen Night also provided individuals with a sober space to interact with friends, meet new people, and the chance to connect with NCPP community partners who shared information and resources about their organizations.

Special recognition was given to the North County Prevention Partnership, the NCPP Youth Coalition, and the South San Francisco Parks and Recreation Department by assembly member Jerry Hill and field representative Jeff Cardenas who presented the awards for their contributions to a healthier and safer San Mateo County for young people.

The event would not have been possible without the following organizations, agencies, groups, coalitions and offices that contributed to the evening’s success: Asian American Recovery Services, Liwanag Kultural Center, Rape Trauma Services, Prevention Research Center, PRIDE Initiative San Mateo County, Pilipino Youth Coalition, San Mateo County, and South San Francisco Parks and Recreation Department.

The following sponsors/donators also made the night successful: DJ Mike Teodosio, B&B Custom Designs, Chevy’s, Filipiniana’s Delight, Lidia’s Italian Deli, Starbucks, and Trader Joe’s. Thank you to all the youth, families, and community partners for all their support with Teen Night!
