NCPP, through Asian American Recovery Services (AARS) provided the sound system and took photographs. We’re proud to support youth-friendly events that raise awareness of the issues we face as a community, especially here in North County San Mateo.

NCPP was proud to support the Liwanag Kultural Center, Kalayaan School for Equity (KSE), and Rock the School Bells with a historical event called “Built From Skratch: Rediscovering the Pin@y DJ Scene in Daly City.” Several pioneering DJs of Filipino-American heritage were gathered to talk about the roots of the Bay Area DJ scene, competition and collaboration between crews, and where the future of DJ innovation is headed.
KSE coordinator Matt Ledesma organized this event to educate a younger generation of students about the tremendous contributions of Filipino-American DJs in the Bay Area. Several other well-known DJs also attended in support of the event (check out the pictures below).
