The stigma around mental illness and substance use can often discourage or prevent individuals from seeking treatment. Stigma Free San Mateo County is an initiative by San Mateo County’s Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) to eliminate stigma and end the discrimination against people with mental illness and substance use conditions in San Mateo County.
Stigma Free San Mateo County will be hosting a FREE community event on Monday, September 9, 2013, from 6:00pm-7:30pm at the Foster City Community Center Wind Room. The event will talk about stigma around mental illness and substance use, the new Stigma Free San Mateo County campaign, and how people can help and/or get involved. Light refreshments will be provided.
